The Academic Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ASOG)
We are a student-led academic group for those who are passionate about obstetrics and gynaecology or have a curiosity about the speciality!
Our association hosts monthly meetings, where active members prepare and present about new topics in Ob/Gyn. These meetings offer the chance for members to gain valuable experience in making clinical presentations and developing public speaking skills.
Our mentor, the esteemed Dr. Elizabete Ārgale, along with other guest mentors, provides practical insights, facilitates interactive discussions, and addresses students’ questions on the topics covered in each meeting.
During our practical meetings, members and participants have the opportunity to practice hands-on skills in various gynecological procedures. These sessions are usually held at the
Medical Education Technology Center (METC) where mannequins and simulators are used for training in suturing, vaginal birth simulation, C-section simulation, laparoscopy, cytology, bimanual examination and more.
All students are welcome to join as either active or passive members. At the beginning of each semester, applications for active membership open. However, it is also possible to participate in our meetings as passive members.
Meeting announcements are shared on Instagram and Facebook, so stay tuned for updates and details and feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
We hope to see you at our meetings!
