The Gastroenterology, Endocrinology & Nephrology Association (GENA)
GENA – Gastroenterology, Endocrinology & Nephrology Association is a newly established, student-led academic society dedicated to three closely interconnected specialties that lie at the heart of internal medicine.
Our central theme is “Connection”, understanding the human body as an integrated whole. GENA aims to highlight the interplay between different branches of internal medicine and emphasize the importance of seeing the bigger picture in order to provide truly patient-centered care.
Through interactive meetings, case-based discussions, and student-led presentations, the association provides theoretical insights beyond the standard curriculum, including emerging research, clinical innovations, and updated guidelines. At the same time, we also place a strong emphasis on developing practical clinical skills.
We are proud to have Dr. Nikola Krūmiņa and Gatis Saknītis as our mentors, whose guidance ensures academic accuracy, clinical relevance, and a strong connection to real-world medicine.
GENA is open to all students with an interest in internal medicine - whether you are exploring future career paths or simply eager to deepen your understanding of how the body truly works. We are excited to launch our very first semester and look forward to growing, learning, and connecting.
